CASART - 4th Activation

Missing 5 and 8 yr old since 5:30p.m. Friday 05/28/04, Broken Wheel Campgrounds, Petersburg, NY.  Terry Serson Jr., 8, and 5-year-old Sara Peterson or subjects were last seen by their mother on a swing set at the Broken Wheel Campground in the town of Petersburg.  Authorities said the children were reported missing just after 5 p.m. Friday night. The children's father said he and crews have been looking for the children all over the campground for hours. 

The following thirteen (13) CASART members were notified by the NYSFEDSAR to report to the Staging Area at 8:00a.m. Saturday 05/30/04 at the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Dan Carmichael, Bruce Condie, Paul Littman,, Bob Liddle, Cheryl Lougeay, Ray Lougeay, Greg O’Hara, Dick Olsen, Tina Olsen, Joe Ostuni, Roy Reehil, Bill Rockhill and Bob Wheeler.

The Command post is at the Petersburg Town Barn, Route 2 and County Route 22.  Need Crew Bosses, experienced field personnel and certified K9.

Following teams were notified by phone: LASAR, SARNAK, NEMSAR, Team 51, NY SAR, NJ SAR, Amigo, BMSAR.

The two children missing in Rensselaer County were found safe after 26 hours of searching.  A New York State Forest Ranger found the subjects just after 8 o'clock last night three miles from the campsite.  The children were taken to Samaritan Hospital to be checked over and then returned to their parents.  Hundreds of volunteers had searched the area for the children.

CASART was notified to deactivate the team late Friday night 05/29/04 after the children were found and no members were dispatched to the search.
