CASART - 6th Activation

CASART was notified on Tuesday 10/19/04 by NYSFEDSAR to activate the team for 7:00a.m. Wednesday 10/20/04.  Type III and Crew Bosses had been requested by NYS Forest Rangers to search for Nancy Griffin or subject a 52 year old white female who was considered to be mentally impaired and extremely depressed since the death of her husband four months ago.  The subject was last seen about 2:00p.m. on Monday 10/18/04 when she fled the Delaware County Mental Health Clinic after a relative brought her there.  It was feared the subject might be suicidal, wanting to join her husband in death.

The following three (3) CASART members reported to the Incident Command Post at the Walton Fire House just south of Oneonta: Gary Lee, Cheryl Lougeay and Ray Lougeay.

They searched for one day in open fields and very wet marsh land in inclement weather without success.  The subject was never found.
